The Future of (Your) Work Starts Here: A DIY State of Mind

Have you heard of Connor Price?

First of all - at a glance, he's a kid. From the suburbs... or a sitcom?

Connor Price courtesy him.

"Thank you for making us the 7th biggest album release GLOBALLY this week. Only independently released project on that list too. 100 million + streams on Spotify alone. Insane. Thank you for all the support 🫢πŸ₯‚" - Connor Price

He's an incredible hip hop artist.

He's NOT a represented artist with a label.

He's recording at HOME. DIY.

He took his work DIRECTLY to his audience.

Me and daughters love his music. His instagram, YouTube, lyrics are clean enough for my kids, 10 and 12.

He did what I WANT YOU TO DO. Take life by the reins - and go for a ride.

Friends, it's time to have the confidence and bright heart of this young hip hop artist. Yes, you. VP, C-suite, Angel investor, or you - down and out, confused.

Do It Yourself. Because confidence isn't a feeling. It's a decision.

"DIY that's the crew's whole motto" (As founder of a community called DIY Influence Connor had my heart with that lyric.)

You don't need a publisher.

You don't need a publicist.

You don't need a social media manager.

(You may need an accountant. :))

And you need an audience so you can build toward your next role, to launch your dream, to do whatever this ____ looks like for you. Maybe Connor's music and story is that drum beat you need to get you out of your head and into the game.

You've heard it said - no one is coming to save you.

No one is going to pick up the phone and come after you.

No one is going to build your pipeline for you. (Technically Kristi Gaudioso, Lisa Scotto Pommerening or Seth Tilli would after you get that revenue in.)

Check out this storytelling hip hop artist and the video delighting my daughters and I to no end at this link.

Because anything they can do:

That business owner you're thinking of ...

That thought leader you follow ...

That confident person owner you secretly envy ...

No one is more able than you to thrive in your pivot.

To figure out what your market needs, and to go after it.

Here's now -

  1. PICK UP THE PHONE. Schedule those calls. They'll be glad to hear from you (wouldn't you want to help you?) Don't stop till you have appointments booked and conversations happening and you're sharing what you want next. Don't wait for them to come calling you. (Need some oomph behind your work? Pop by our collaborative Maker's Space on Friday morning at 10am ET in DIY Influence. We're getting things done with gritted teeth together!)

  2. BUILD YOUR NETWORK: Stop putting everything else in front of the work of thought leadership and personal brand building of learning to build an audience. This is your new daily important / urgent if you want to win. Learn how on my podcast, How To: Thought Leadership. My personal LinkedIn playbook episode is a fan favorite.

  3. OWN YOUR TIME. You fall out of the running if you don't know how to run your schedule like you mean it. Like it's the thing that will keep you from going back to corporate. It's my battle, too.

  4. GET INTO THE RACE. Link arms with people in a pivot: Our membership community is built upon this DIY ethos. Whole, hurt, scared, excited, ill, healthy, flush with cash, down to your last dollars? You've got what it takes to reinvent you and your world, future, life.

Get out of your head friends. Get into the game!

I believe in YOU!

P.S. If this is you, and it's time to take action, this bootcamp will get you unstuck FAST in a pivot.
